BBC refused to play it because of his managers connection with radio Caroline at the time.
Whilst the BBC gave Tony Blackburn the first DJ job on radio one.He had been previously on radio Caroline.
I've just trawled through the Music Thread to find the Guilty Pleasures thread once again.
This is definitely one of those love it or hate it tracks. From 1978, this is Paul Evans with a "classic car crash" song if ever there was one:

I'm sorry Aerolor, but The Mavericks are just not my sort of music.
Journey are something else however. A great band but certainly more worthy than labelling a "Guilty Pleasure".
Oh definitely - but when I listen to Steve Perry's fabulous voice and watch him performing as a younger man...... - wow - he is certainly one of my guilty pleasures and probably always will be.
