That was a sci-fi version of a film with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune as enemy soldiers trapped on a Pacific island having to work together to stay alive. That was a damned good film too.

The Day of the Triffids (1962)
The Andromeda Strain (1971)
Predator (1987)
The Terminator (1984)
Terminator 2 - Judgment Day (1991)
Total Recall (1990)
The Matrix (1999)

Re: Speaking of great films...

I am not sure that it is a great movie but one I watched recently was "I am Mother" with Hillary Swank (why I watched it)

It actually turned into not a bad post apocalypse Sc-fi movie with a thought provoking twist toward the end.

Anyway I enjoyed it.

If it is old scifi movies you want, it's hard to go past "The Day the Earth Stood Still" as a classic.

The Day the Earth Caught Fire is better than average too. With a young Michael Caine having a one line part.

"Gort, Klaatu barada nikto"!

I love that film - but the 2008 remake was absolute rubbish!

I didn't know it had been remade but remakes are usually best avoided.

Another old classic Sci-fi worth watching is Silent Running, (1972) starring Bruce Dern. Story of a spaceship taking the last surviving forests and flora on a search for a planet to transplant them. excellent musical score.
