Lived close by,poacher turned gamekeeper but he was a character,never a bad word to say against anyone.

It is indeed sad news, Johnny was a maverick, and totally involved with his wildlife.
I remember the episode when his recued and tame deer died it broke his heart and he showed it.
A lovely man.

Yes I used to really like him too. A nice, natural caring man.
He was 79 I believe, what a horrible accident, poor man.
