Some great signs Bruce but I think I'd be very wary where ever I walked in case they missed putting a warning sign up!

Actually there are signs that say something like if you don't see a sign and you are near water assume that there are crocodiles. A bloke was attacked in his tent about a week ago near Katherine - he had camped 15 metres from water the recommended distance is 50 metres. Fortunately the croc was eventually scared off and he just had some severe puncture wounds to his foot where it grabbed him, they reckon it was only 2.5 metres.

I was very wary near billabongs a lot of the popular places in Kakadu are not open yet because they have not been checked for big crocs as the wet has only just finished. I don't mind snakes but crocs are a different thing altogether.

The Tropic of Capricorn

Supposed to mark the change from a wet tropical climate to a dryer temperate one. Infact the transition is much further north about the area of Newcastle Waters
