TV Licence scam email

Just had a fake email supposely from the BBC TV Licencing people saying my licence was running out on 5th December because my Direct Debit didn't go through.

I don't pay by Direct Debit, my licence runs out 31st January and when I moused over the link to set up a new direct debit it was spoofed to show as essingtoncemetery not the BBC.

Just thought I'd mention it in case it's doing the rounds.

Thanks Tachyon. We don't pay by direct debit either but it will be interesting to see if the email arrives.

I was alerted to this just recently from our policing fraud lot, so looks like it is not just a local scam then.

Thank you got an email today too and was about to ring my bank to find out whats happening. I'm going to report it hope anyone else gets it does too.

Yea, thanks from me too Tachyon. I do pay by DD and settled up at the end of October, it went through okay according to my bank statement, so I'll watch out for that one.....

I don't have to pay for my TV Licence...until 2020...maybe.

We have had loads of these. You only have to check the email address to see it's invalid. You can check whether you have paid your licence on the .gov site.

I paid mine outright yet still get these types of emails.
