Missy's tears

We are gradually getting Missy sorted out, she's clean and smells nice, had a hair cut so looks much better the rescue cut out the worst of the matts but the groomer we took her to has evened her up as it were.

She's putting a little weight on, we are being careful as the vet said to do it very gradually though as that will be better for her long term.

Only thing needs attention is her face is still very tear stained. She's apricot with two long dark dribbly lines from her eyes to her chin.

Anyone know any kind way to deal with tear stains, I've not had a dog with them before and she is so pretty it seems a shame if we can't improve this for her.

Re: Missy's tears

Julie, my oldest Beddie gets tear stains occasionally.
My vet told me to use Optrex diluted 50 : 50 with cooled boiled water. It's ever so easy.

Just dip cotton wool in and wipe the stains. Do it daily. Don't get it in the eyes itself though.

Nothing miraculous happens first couple of days, but you should see it gradually disappearing, till its all gone. Works every time for my old gal.

You can buy tear stain remover from Pets at Home I believe, but I find the Optrex works best.

Let us know how you get on.

I don't post piccies sorry, we have a legal reason we can't do it. If I do post the doggies I get carried away and start posting the kids and family and we aren't allowed to post Gracie on the internet. It's my fault I lose all sense of reason and get carried away so I have to ban myself from posting anything at all.
