£85,000 fine for jet lunatic

Chloe Haines, who has just been served a two year prison sentence for trying to open aircraft doors whilst in the air, has also been fined £85,000. The drunken, trout-faced Loon's aggressive and abusive behaviour resulted in two RAF jets being scrambled to escort the Jet2 plane back to Stansted.

I read that in today's Metro. I'm not condoning her actions in any way, shape or form but, she's jobless so how do they think she'll be able to pay this fine?

I doubt she will ever pay it off. Probably get some deal where she pays £2 a week for the rest of her life.

I am not able to read that link , but it seems likely that she is mentally ill. Not necessarily insane mind you, but if she had a panic attack that could explain her behavior. If I were the judge, I'd require a mental health evaluation prior to any sentencing.
In any event, I'd ban her from any future flights.

I think virtually everyone gets a mental health evaluation these days.

The bit I did not understand was a two year custodial sentence. She was clearly out of her mind and they say it's because she mixed alcohol with her medication. This can make you act crazy but is it necessary to waste public money on locking her up?
