Covid Marshalls.

Hi

What a nonsense.

The Government are proposing a Register of EHOs to do this work.

No funding for it and they would have to be employed to have any powers at all.

They would also have to have specific Qualifications to do the job.

As this government has made huge numbers redundant, they can get stiffed.

It is simply not going to happen.

The Private Sector is offering 5 times the money for Sanitary Certificates for Food Exports.

Re: Covid Marshalls.

I always thought that the local councils were responsible for making sure that businesses were observing the rules and making it as safe as possible for the punters. And also making sure that large groups were not forming in public spaces in the same way that they are the first line of contact for noisy or unruly neighbours. The police only get called if it gets physical.

Personally I think we should have adopted the Australian method of making each area responsible for their own handling of Covid. Perhaps each county? Rather than a blanket lockdown for places that had a low infection rate.

I've haven't been a labour supporter for many years, but our labour run council are doing a splendid job so far. Praise where praise is due...

Coronavirus: Who are the Covid marshals and what powers will they have?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-54105672
The government said marshals can either be volunteers or existing members of council staff.

The Local Government Association (LGA) said "any new responsibilities for councils in this area will have to be fully funded", but there has been no funding announced by government.

Leeds City Council told the BBC it had introduced six night marshals "who were in place over four weeks and who did not have any enforcement powers".

In Cornwall, street marshals were introduced in Camborne, Helston, Newquay, Redruth, St Austell, St Ives and Truro in July. The council said they would be present during the busiest times of the day to "give friendly help and guidance to those visiting and working" in the area.

The government has still to set out details of what marshals will do. Marshals do not have the power to enforce social distancing or to issue fines to anyone who breaks the rules.
Marshals .....

More like wet-nurses .....

The government should give them guns and the authority to blast mask-dodgers .....

Re: Covid Marshalls.

We should encourage all the younger folk to go out en masse and enjoy themselves, most of them will suffer no more than a bad cold from the effects of covid, and they will be our [old peoples] salvation and form a human defence against the virus. Probably the reason for the recent spike in infections is because not enough people have had the virus to break the chain of infection, and as soon as we have relaxed the lockdown it's still actively progressing on it's way to oblivion.
That's how all viruses go in the end, if they didn't, the human race would have perished a long time ago....And Long before we could rely on vaccinations. The human body is brilliant...

I don't really see what qualifications they would need. They only have to be able to count to six

Covid marshals 'unlikely' in England, councils say

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-54173415

The widespread introduction of Covid marshals to towns and cities in England is "unlikely" and "almost impossible", some local authorities have said.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson suggested the marshals would enforce rules about social distancing, gathering in groups and wearing masks.

But a lack of detail has been criticised by council and health officials, amid unanswered questions about funding, recruitment and the marshals' power to enforce the law.

A Cheshire East spokesman said any new responsibilities would "have to be fully funded by Whitehall", while Southend's public safety councillor, Martin Terry, said: "We can't do things out of thin air. The government has to put money on the table."

The Local Government Association said: "Even if marshals were rolled out in great numbers, they will not have enforcement powers so it is important that residents do not expect councils to be able to act when they cannot."
Think again, BJ .....
