Square eyes?

Hey,

I'm currently doing a project at university where I have to create a television network for over 50s, I was wondering whether you would be able to answer a few questions just to get me started.

1. Do you own a TV, if so do you have freeview/sky or terrestrial

2. What was your favourite television programme when you were in your early 20s

3. What is your favourate programmes at the moment

4. Do you watch TV alone or with someone else, if so, who?

5. What activities/hobbies do you have outside watching TV

Cheers

Re: Square eyes?

also, what do you think of the name Meta4 for the station name? I think it would be good to play with words, puns etc for the advertisements. The brief is to "create a fresh and innovative "older" channel that has a challenging and mischievous tone.

I didn't watch TV in my 20s

3. What is your favourate programmes at the moment
I don't have one

4. Do you watch TV alone or with someone else, if so, who?
I watch alone if at all

5. What activities/hobbies do you have outside watching TV
Too numerous to list

Hello Steven As far as I am concerned we don't need anymore TV networks / stations there are too many already showing rubbish and repeats.

Re: Square eyes?

Thank you Meg The network I am designing for will have all new programmes (that I know of!) but I agree there are many that just show re-runs all day long!

Re: Square eyes?

Hello Steven You're talking to a tv addict here, our tv is on all day but not always on all night (it depends what sort of night I'm having).

1. We have Sky and Freeview. We have several tv's in our house. Sky is on our main tv in the sitting room, the rest of the tv's we have have built in Freeview.

2. In my 20's my fav programme was probably Top Of The Pops.

3. Fav prog now - (God there's loads), The Only Way Is Essex.

4. I watch tv alone in the daytime (apart from the dog being with me), and my husband in the evening.

5. Not many as I'm quite disabaled. Watching tv is my main hobby apart from surfing the net on my laptop. (I have a dog walker who takes the dog out in the daytime, hubby takes her out in the evening).

I was the right person to ask wasn't I.

I don't mind the re-runs all day long. Gold is my favourite channel out of them all, I had Sky when this channel first started years ago, I was so excited about watching all the older sitcoms.

I love all the reality tv programmes as well, Celeb Big Bro, Big Bro, I'm A Celeb. I tried to get into Desperate Scousers but don't like it. I might try and get into "Made In Chelsea" again but I found them too posh .

Sorry I'm getting carried away with talking about tv programmes, I'll go now.

I should have had 'Square Eyes' as my username.

Steven I can't see how any new 'network' could generate enough capital investment to enable it to make quality programmes which could compete with the BBC .
I think the existing commercial stations already have problems attracting revenue from advertising so that is not really going to be a viable source of income for a small network.
I personally avoid advertisements when possible, dreadful things . I don't need someone suggesting to me what I should spend my money on.

(1)Yes own a few tv's but some are hardly ever switched on. We have aerial freeview.
(2)If I had a favourite program so long ago I can't remember what it was!
(3)My favourite programs now are the natural world type documentaries.
(4) Watch tv mostly with hubby.
(5)Nothing to time consuming but dog walking and outdoor activities high on the list.

A channel aimed at the interests of the older generation could be interesting as a lot of older people spend a lot of time viewing when they become immobile.
