Our family had one exactly the same. As a child, there was always something satisfying about the sound of the metal cutting into the potato and then the 'clunk' at the end when the handle reached the end position

Dodge, I have a modern plastic chip cutter too but the metal one is far more substantial and cuts just the right thickness for the chips.

Omah, Do You own that? Or, did you find it on the internet?
It looks a lethal weapon or something used in torture!

That contraption looks more like a waffle maker, you make the square waffle, then the device makes the holes in the waffle.

No, I don't own it - I found it on Ebay and thought you might like to start a collection of vintage chippers .....

Do you "chip" any other root vegetables with your machine .....

Yes, occasionally, for carrots but l use the plastic one for those as it cuts thinner.
When l make pasties, l sometimes use the metal chipper to cut up the carrots and potatoes and then l cut them into cubes.
There’s a method in my madness!

It's a chip-cutter - here's a variant:

They are unusual, though .....
