Hugs sent.
I'm used to it, I've had to get used to it.

The most upsetting thing is, this was the year before my husband died so we didn't get that all important last holiday together.

I know none of us could have predicted his death but it's just made me even more bitter unfortunately.

I only ever hear from my kids when they want something and that's hardly ever these days as they know they'll get nowt.

That is a real shame Nicol.
Why don't you come along on the Christmas pretend holiday journey?
It is fun, and we will all spoil you. X
It is in the Christmas section.

Re: Neither a borrower nor a lender be.

I never ask to borrow money but the other week, l walked through Tesco whilst on my way to a quiz. I saw some of my favourite St Agur and Davidstow cheese being sold off and it was too good to miss. I hadn’t got my credit cards with me, just enough cash for the quiz and my usual soft drinks!

To buy the cheese, l wouldn’t have enough cash for the quiz, l would be short of a pound! I ummed and ahhed and the cheese won!
I got to the quiz and told my sad story to my quizmates, that l was short of a pound for the quiz. Of course, they all offered to give me the pound.
I said, l didn’t want the pound to keep and l wanted to pay it back, so one of them lent me the pound.
I know, it was only a pound but it worried me all week, until l paid it back.

So the ‘trivia’ above, takes me to the point, how can people borrow large amounts of money off people, don’t pay back, yet are able to sleep at night?

Talking of cheese Arty, I started a cheese thread, I would be the same as you with cheese.

As for only a pound, I am exactly the same - I worry.

Yes, we all help those less fortunate, however, I gave money to someone I truly thought was homeless once, only to see him drive off in a brand new car later that night!!!!

Was the person concerned chauffeured by a man in a uniform? and, was the car white, with a red stripe down the middle

Re: Neither a borrower nor a lender be.

You would normally know if a person is trustworthy or not, before you enter into any financial transaction. It makes sense for families to lend each other money in a financial crisis, the lender should be aware they are privileged to be in receipt of such help, and not at the mercy of a Pay Day Loaner or similar.

Sweetie, I have one rule about this, never lend money to folks from Dept-ford, or Borro-wash.

Sweetie, I was surprised by a TV advert yesterday, mainstream Credit Cards charge around 29.9% Apr, some who take greater risk punters charge say 39.9%, well, I was surprised to see the premium American Express advert quoting an Apr of around 55%
