There is "sorry" and there is "sorry" ... anything from a lapse in concentration to renewing your marriage vows.

You know I used to say that to my daughter. She used to say 'sorry' when reprimanded but not with any great conviction. I used to say words are useless if you don't mean them (or words to that effect).

If I'm wrong, I always hold my hand up and apologise.

In fact I said 'sorry' today when I accidentally cut a flower bud off by mistake

Youngsters nowadays say "sorry" before bumping into you in the street. In my day, we'd say "excuse me" before making an effort to courteously negotiate the situation.
