Re: Flirting - right or wrong

It's far safer these days not to flirt in the first place. I wouldn't take the risk nor would I waste time on it.

Why was she upset?
May I ask what your feelings actually were?
No matter if it's too personal, just trying to understand your post.
She asked me outright if we could become more than friends, as gently as possible I said sadly not. But I was always prepared to be a friend. She was not what she wanted. Became upset and decided to move on.

Re: Flirting - right or wrong

Surely Friends last forever, partners have prerequisites and often fall by the wayside, when the preconditions fail to match.

Ah, thank you for clarifying that.
I understand now.

Better to be honest, than let someone think you have feelings which you don't, just do it gently.

Re: Flirting - right or wrong

Flirting is dangerous if married or if a commitment has been made to a partner. It's often not possible to predict how far flirting will go with all the possible hurt it can cause. Best to steer clear of it.

Does flirting never end no matter how old or wise we supposedly get? Thank goodness I'm past any possibility of it now.

Flirting has to be balanced, on the potential loss front.

Old fogeys should not Flirt, Full Stop.

I guess many personal opinions about Flirtatious Banter, might be formed from experience

Flirting/Banter/Innuendos even Complimentary remarks can be misconstrued as being Perving ( a term used here for someone seeking sexual attention )

Re: Flirting - right or wrong

Men don't flirt with woman they are truly attracted to. Flirting is taking the piss.
