Trump tries to buy vaccines for US only

This is why I can't stand the man! ... using money and influence to save himself basically! (or trying to)

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/111793...us-vaccine-us/

Fortunately the German company he was trying to bribe have said vaccines will be for "all the world"

But this is what I was talking about when I gave the example of being one ventilator left and 2 patients. (one rich one not) and who would be saved. Someone said it would be illegal...yes it may well be but that's not going to stop some people (the type with Trump's mentality) trying!

Boris meanwhile - though in no way perfect himself! - is trying to get companies to build more ventilators for everyone and spread out the cases to help the NHS cope. We should give him credit for that! ...

I mean if you were made prime Minister then shortly afterwards a pandemic hit the country would you know what to do in order to save the most lives possible?? ..not sure I would and it's an hell of a responsibility to be hit with!

True Susan, Trump is a complete knob in many ways and I'm sure the world isn't a better or safer place since his tenure.

Boris though is doing alright and going with the scientific evidence, what else could anyone of us do?

The old Kipling poem comes to mind, "If you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you"

There is also the changed version "if you can keep your head when all around you people are losing theirs....you probably don't understand the situation "

Let's hope it's not that.

With their overly expensive health schemes, could the `ordinary` American afford the vaccine (when it arrives), and will the various insurance schemes pay for it? Once again, it will be the wealthy and well insured who will get the treatment while everyone else will be thrown on the scrapheap.

It's understandable, indeed laudable, to try to provide for the country of which he is president first and no doubt see other countries be permitted to buy once the needs of America have been met.

Moreover the resources that the USA would put behind research for a vaccine, if indeed one is even possible, are much more than any other nation.

Why can't they still put their resources behind research for a vaccination for EVERYONE who has it?..not just the rich and famous and those who can afford medical insurance!

It will be made available to everyone but I see nothing wrong with putting the people of the country that developed it FIRST.

I'm sure that we all breathed a sigh of relief when we heard that Trump was tested negative for covid. It's a pity that they didn't manage to use the same sample to identify what precisely is wrong with him!!
