Nikon D810 camera

Back in 2017 Nvember to be exact I paid £1604 for a new Nikon D810. Today I see one advertised now from Germany for about just under £2800 new. Has the camera market gone completely crazy?

The Nikon D850 is only £2500

Yet again, you have no clue. The D810 has been discontinued as from last year. https://www.diyphotography.net/the-n...-discontinued/
The D850 is cheaper than you think. https://www.google.com/search?biw=15...4dUDCAw&uact=5

Just goes to show the state of the UK economy/pound if the price has soared so much.

They seem to be about $2700 to $3000 here (£1350 - £1500) but they are a discontinued model.

Hobbies can be addictive and expensive but a couple of grand on a pro camera body and another couple of grand on a lens or two can give hours of enjoyment.

I know people who will climb mountains, spend the night there just to get a decent shot of the sunrise, hopefully. I know people who will spend the day in the marshes to get a decent shot of a rare bird, hopefully. (I bet gasman has some stories).

Photography is not something you splash out on and jump in to. People start with beginner gear, spend years learning and slowly building up some good kit. Camera bodies can fetch good money on the used market, lenses hold their value even better.

I don't do sunrises or birds, I'm an opportunist with relatively inexpensive kit. But I understand the attraction and the addiction.

If you bought the 810 from Germany, it would still be a grey import. Another site - far cheaper than yours https://panamoz.com/nikon-d810-dslr-...body-only.html
I have bought two grey imports before and never had any problems.

Very true d00d.

I know people like that too and if you want THE best shot, you have to make sacrifices. I am not a 'twitcher', but have sat in a hide for ages waiting for a certain bird to appear.

Photography is not something you splash out on and jump in to. People start with beginner gear, spend years learning and slowly building up some good kit. Camera bodies can fetch good money on the used market, lenses hold their value even better.
Again, very true. Paradoxically, I know of people that have bought expensive camera equipment from the onset and expected to take award winning photographs. These type of people just do not want to learn the basics.

I don't do sunrises or birds, I'm an opportunist with relatively inexpensive kit. But I understand the attraction and the addiction.
Opportunist or not, your street photography is excellent and proves that you do not need expensive equipment to produce good results. You just have to learn how to use your camera properly.
