Big House In A Bad Area, Or A Small House In A Good Area?

They say, it’s all about Location, Location.
So, if you had a choice would you go for a big house in a bad area or a small house in a good area?

In my thinking, it's all about return on investment.

What you put in versus what you get out when you move on.

Definitely a small house in a good area. I'm not materialistic, as long as I have peace and quiet and enough room to move about that'll do for me.
As I see it, the bigger the house, the more to clean!

Not a direct answer to your question, Art, but in the Location programme they advise to buy the worst house in the best area for the best investment.

Location.

But depending on what constitutes bad .
Bed / rough / dangerous or just not yet fashionable .

Nice house in a nice area.

Not intended as a smart arse answer but we're both creatures of comfort.

I'll probably end up down a cul de sac

Yet all my life I've wanted inner city, cosmopolitan, cutting edge, frontline, with a touch of class.

And I've got a weakness for marble fireplaces and moulded ceilings ...

As Child livng in Greater Mancester we lived in a small terraced house with an ouside toilet untill new bathroom installed
Men called this toilet "The little Brick S...House".

There was no D/glazing or Central Heating, but an open Coal Fire that made delicious toast as well as warming our legs.

I can't remeber ever being unhappy there, or coverting houses in the best arears.

I was born on a farm with a privy. The brick s...house was the butch woman in the next village.
