One of my dogs

Got to take one of my dogs into the vets in the morning. It's the little one with the Christmas hat on in 'my profile' pics.
She's been suffering with her ears a lot lately and numerous drops and cleaning them are not doing the trick, so they want to give her an anaesthetic and have a good look down there now, plus a deep clean up.
I know its not like a major op but I will be so upset coming away without her, and so will she, plus there's always some risk with anaesthetics.
I won't be happy until she's home safe again. Not looking forward to it one bit.

Re: One of my dogs

Is it the little Bedlington Mups?

It must be horrible to have sore ears , I am sure she will feel better when they have been cleaned.

Keep busy and the time will pass quickly and your little one will be home again .

Re: One of my dogs

Don't know the first thing about Bedlington ears, but since they have floppy ears like my poodles, I think I feel your worries Maybe you already heard this from someone else, but in my experience, a grain free diet can solve a lot of ear problems. I adopted a miniature poodle with severe ear- and yeast infections. I ended up feeding her homemade cooked (on homemade raw now), because she also appeared to be sensitive to a LOT of foods, causing a range of different effects from an extreme amount of eye boogers to yeasty spots on her skin that kept her itchy almost 24/7.

Hope all goes well, and she will get better

Re: One of my dogs

Don't worry Mups I am sure she will be OK.
I found a stray cat the other year and it had the worst ears ever.
It had scratched them to ribbons and no one had treated him for
mites.
I had won some money on the bingo so I took him to the vets so
they could do what you say is happening to your dog. They had to
go all the way down the ear to some how get the mites out and the
infection.
He was a bit dozy when he came back from the Vets and had a bit
of pain killer but is right as rain now. He is still around and doing
well and I never see him scratching his ears anymore.
Fingers crossed he will be back soon.

I´m sure your dog will be just fine Mups, but I know how you feel. I hope the Vet finds a cause and solution to the problem.

Re: One of my dogs

I'll be thinking of you today Mups.

I have a pug, he had to have an eye operation last year (he had inturned eyelashes which were scratching his eyes and causing ulcers)

we felt just like you will be doing now, mainly the anaesthetic probs.
but he was fine, the vets/nurses are so good and know what they're doing.
he had to wear one of those "lampshades" for a fortnight, that was the worst bit.
but he hasn't suffered with his eyes since, so it was a worthwhile op. despite the HUGE amount it cost us.

Have a hug from me, and let us know how he gets on.
