Being Outrageous

A post by Grumblewagon gave me an idea for this thread.

What would you love to have the nerve to do before its too late?
Might it be something daft like knocking a policeman's hat off, or playing hopscotch on the pavement in full view of the neighbours? How about grabbing somebody for a dance to the supermarket's music? What would you like to do if you had the nerve, just for 5 mins fun?
It's a bit sad in a way to have to be sensible forever.

Re: Being Outrageous

I find I am getting more confident after a period of being completely crushed. Apparently I suffer from sociophobia which has ripped me apart over the years. Thing is I'm getting over it and finding my feet. I feel very aggressive and fed up with the idea I'm running out of time. I love so much of life but have had to put up with so little of it, tis time I spread my wings. For some strange reason I have found enough confidence to venture forth. God help those that cross my path from now on that piss me off.

Re: Being Outrageous

What you mean like dressing up as a neo-Victorian with ringlets a silly hat & a bustle? I do that a lot!

Re: Being Outrageous

Reminds me of this Jeny Joseph poem:

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Re: Being Outrageous

I did the policeman's hat thing years ago it's very over rated and I nearly got arrested

I always have worn what I want and some times that has raised eye brows, my nephews describe my style as kooky whatever that is.

Purple is one of my favourites

Re: Being Outrageous

I really want to grow my grey hair long and scraggy, dress in leathers and have a go on a three wheeled motorbike - preferably with Billy Connelly driving it.........

Re: Being Outrageous

I would - half a chance - then again, maybe not.

I did my rebelling years ago.
