On the other side Princess Alice of Greece .Nutty as a fruit cake but quite brave being deaf and abandoned by her husband .
She sheltered a Jewish family in her place in France in the war .Hence she is recognised as a 'righteous among nations ' in Israel .
She came to her son (Prince Phillip)'s wedding dressed as a nun.

No really the poor woman was deaf and suffered delusions and one day Phillip came home from school and she was not there .Her family had had her incarcerated in a mental institution .( she never forgave them) she was there for years .
His father abandoned the family and lived out his life in the South of France with his mistress.
Philips four sisters all married Nazis he basically had no real home but luckily had his weathly uncle Dickie Mountbatten ( Princess Alice's brother ) who took him under his wing and steered him in to the navy and to marry the Queen.
Afterwards his mother started her own order of nuns and lived in a series of flats and B and B s
A strange and lonely life.

I recently met and talked to Dr Martin Stern from Leicester who is a holocaust survivor and it certainly brings it home to hear first hand what he and his sister went through. Hespends a great deal of his time talking to senior school pupils of his experience.|
