Re: Is there an after life?

Look at it like this.
We die, our bodies rot away but matter itself cannot be destroyed.
So....when all our tissues and bones are eventually converted to their atomic level we will become part of 'Mother' Earth again and those atoms will eventually end up as part of something else whether animal vegetable or mineral and eventually will undergo that same breakdown and metamorphosis.

Re: Is there an after life?

To me it seems quite natural. We came out of nothing and we are going to return to nothing. This is the only life we are going to have and it’s up to us to live a decent and responsible life while we can.

Hell yeah!

There is a body of belief that says we go back every night during sleep as far as the Astral Plains at least. Read Robert Monroe.

I'm a believer ...

Re: Is there an after life?

I don't believe there is anything after death because, if there was, every living creature would be there after death.... unless anybody is daft enough to believe that humans are special! Just think, if I am wrong, how many mosquitoes and spiders would be there too.

As it happens daft is my middle name so maybe that's why I'm so open to it.

It's called recycling or was that reincarnation ... : - )

I suppose now I've thought of it a bit more, if we brought old outdated knowledge back with us it wouldn't be very helpful today anyway.

Neither do I. I don't believe in "you'll die when it's your time." I don't believe, once people are born, that their days are numbered to a precise amount. Everyone's days are numbered, of course, but I don't believe each person is stamped with a set number of days to live and then when it's "their time", they'll die regardless of the circumstances. I mean, think about it...

Take a plane crash, for example, an A-380 goes into the ground and all 500 people on board are killed. Were all 500 of those people meant to die at that exact moment? Is it coincidence that all 500 of those people, whose times were up (i.e. time to go bye-bye from this earth) just so happened to ALL get on the same plane at the same time? I think not. And something like that can't be planned. That's just not the way the life works. That is, however, just my opinion. But it makes sense. Because what doesn't make sense is all 500 people who were killed in the crash just so happened to be at the end of their ropes at the same exact time and they were all meant to die. I don't buy that.

I don't think I could handle that.

Here's what's kinda creepy to think about... they (the people who believe in reincarnation) say that past lives are where dreams and deja vu's come from. Because when you're reborn into another body, you don't consciously remember things from the life you lived before, but they come out in your dreams. That's why you'll dream about people and places you've never seen before, at least not in your current life. Or like when you walk into a house you've never been to before, but you swear you have been. That happened to me once, at a wedding reception. The house we were at was massive. Mansion-like and built in the 1800's. It was absolutely beautiful. I'd never been there before. But when I went inside to use the bathroom, I didn't even need to be told where the bathroom was, I went right to it and I knew where everything was in that house. I even freaked myself out a little bit that day.

Those are, supposedly, past-life remembrances. I don't know if I believe that or not, but it's a cool ass thing to think about.

I read or heard something once that made my stomach sink at the time, but in thinking about it, it makes sense...

"Birth is nothing more than death begun."

When I first heard that, it kind of blew me away. But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. I mean, if you're never born, you can't die.

Ahhh, yes, memory wiped clean except for our dreams, according to some people. For centuries people have asked, "Where do our dreams come from?" Well - as I stated above - some people believe our dreams are things that we saw and/or experienced in past lives and a portion of our brain retained it, but only allows us glimpses. Probably as a defense mechanism or as a way to protect us. Think about it, if you were suddenly consciously flooded with everything that happened in one, two or maybe even hundreds of past lives, it would drive you insane.

They say we only use a small portion of our brains anyway. So all of those memories are stored. Maybe that's why some people end up in strait jackets. Maybe their brains simply..... opened up. They're not hallucinating or seeing things at all... maybe they're simply seeing what their brains are showing them and because it's too much too fast, it confuses them and makes them appear they've lost touch with reality.

Re: Is there an after life?

No fixed views. We could just rot away into compost ... but we could also carry on ..somewhere, somehow ..a vital spark that made us uniquely us that does not die.

This is not wishful thinking.
Unless it was a damn jolly and pleasant place to go I would rather not bother.

When a baby is born onto this planet , we rejoice and welcome the new born , when a person passes on from this planet there is rejoicing and welcoming from those waiting .

My thoughts and beliefs

I hope there's an afterlife, I have a date with the Devil, we are going to surf the seas of fire.
