Unsung heroes

While we were at Mums yesterday in London, my wife's brother managed to get round to drop of a present for her and wish her a Happy Christmas.

He's only been there 5 minutes when he got a call and had to go because he's a Police Officer with the Metropolitan Police, and he was on-duty yesterday.

For him and the thousands of others like him in the Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service etcetera Christmas Day was just another day so I'd just like to put something here that I meant to put yesterday and that's to remember and give Thanks to all those people out there, looking after us when we're all tucked-up at home or with friends / family. stevmk2

Thanks Steve. Until this year I was one of those working on Christmas Day, and it's really nice to be appreciated!(But I'm no hero...)

Don't forget the farmers who provide a lot of our food, stock needs feeding and tending whatever the day or the weather.

My Uncles both farmers started work at 5am every day of the year .

Indeed and one service I always really like to recognised is the RNLI always on duty and volunteers as are mountain rescue folks too !

I'd like to add my thanks to those who work on days that most people take for granted as days off - where would we be without them.

Well, after the succession of storms and floods that we have had I think the guys who work through the day and night to restore electricity deserve a mention too.

Brother-in-law let us know yesterday evening that the call he had on Christmas Day was for an out-of-control dog .

It had attacked people in the flat, including a child.

Brother-in-law is a Met Police Dog Handler - that's why he was called.
He told us the thing was Pit Bull-type and foaming at the mouth when he got there!
