Not Tight

Being an early riser, never think to put Central Heating on before the rest of the family awaken. At 5.30am this morning, got up put trousers on, tee shirt, zip up cardie, woolly hat, lightweight jacket, trainers, and off we go, telly on, and puter.
This is not a financially motived (or Green) decision, its just a habit, but must be saving a few quid, and indirectly helping the planet.

Try it it yourselves.

Re: Not Tight

I cant bear to be cold I hate it . My heating is my best friend and yes it costs a lot but I'm happier being warm . I spent my early years living in a hot country ( Aden) and returning to England and the damp and cold was a shock , I think the memory has stayed with me . My heating is my one indulgence

Re: Not Tight

It depends on one's priorities and preferences. A cosy warm room/house is a priority. Walking into my study in the morning is the most pleasant way of starting a day.

That may be because I didn't have central heating in the first 30 years of my life and stove heating and cold rooms in the morning were a nuisance.

Re: Not Tight

I love being warm and cosy as well, and always put the heating up if its cold. My husband is the exact opposite and prefers the cold. He flings open windows and wears t -shirts in winter kind of thing, where I'm bundled up in layers, haha!

Re: Not Tight

Never use the Timer Tregonsee, we aren't here most of the time, that's why something like a Hive would be useless, if its cold when we come in, we put the Gas Fire on and the heating, then turn the fire off after a quarter hour or so

Re: Not Tight

My CH goes on at 5.00pm and off at 9.00pm - this place is so well insulated that it stays warm through the night. Don't need it on during the day because I am usually busy and moving about.

Re: Not Tight

We have pretty poor insulation and have radiators on timers and rely on thick, fleece lined curtains to keep the heat in from sundown onwards.
We were always brought up to wear layers etc and dress for the temperature. I can still hear my mother complaining if we didn't have vests on (as adults with our own children!). Electricity was generally to be saved : lights off in empty rooms, doors kept shut, draught excluders etc etc. That attitude dies hard!
Not tight just careful!
