Coat

Mrs mart made a coat. No paper pattern. It was made using another coat as the pattern. It's a fairly heavy material and won't get worn until summer is over..

I used to make clothes then hardly ever wore them except the underskirts.

No she is a hairdresser by training but making anything with needle and thread just comes naturally to her ..or seams to.

I'm impressed. I bet she loves The Sewing Bee on TV. I really admire people who can knit or sew stuff, I was useless at school. We had to sew a cookery apron and the teacher had to finish mine for me. I've got no patience at all but would love to have a friend who could sew one-off clothes for me.

Mrs mart does watch The Sewing Bee. Her teacher at school wasn't impressed by her sewing quality but when she left school, she used to buy clothes and alter them to fit. By the time our family grew up, she'd had a lot of practice at doing that.

The ultimate was making our daughter's wedding dress from just buying the material..
