Re: My Garden

Ohh the square foot method! Someone at the allotment mentioned that, and I didn't know what it was. She was in conversation so I didn't ask. Can you tell me, Swimmy. I have two raised beds.

P.S Those new photos are so pretty! Such a lush garden. It looks huge too

Re: My Garden

Very nice Nasturniums. Growing some from seed here too this year. I haven't been brave enough to use them for salads as they look so pretty and keep flowering.

Love your trellises. Are these pre-treated in blue or did you stain them?

Also notice you do not have many slugs. Does having gravel around the raised beds stop them?

Hi

Painted by me, one of the few things I can do straight out of hospital.

It is quite relaxing, painting.

Nasturtiums are self seeding, very easy things to grow.

You can eat the flowers as well as the leaves.

Re: My Garden

Hi

I am on heavy clay, so loads of slugs.

I used slug pellets when I moved in 3 years ago.

Now I have a very small pond with toads and frogs.

Nice neighbour has a bigger pond and we have put a frog tunnel in under the dividing fence.

Dried chicken manure is put on in winter.

The nasturtiums I use in salads and stir fries.
I am very impressed Swimmy, well done!!

Hi

Square foot is easy.

https://www.growveg.co.uk/guides/pla...etable-garden/

You can make it much simpler, just use a raised bed and nails and string to divide it up.

The more fertilizer you put in the better.

Plant things very close and then thin them out, using them in cooking.

Use the space all the time.

My Broad Beans are just about finished, soon they will be replaced with pak choi, spinach, radish, lettuce and spring onion.

Potatoes and carrots you can grow in containers.

Re: My Garden

Thank you very much! See I didn't even know you could still plant things now...even though I have recently put in cabbage, sprouts and squash. I did the lettuce and radishes early in the year and it was too cold. Going to give it another shot
