No intention of being rude - just that you can only compare prices like-for-like. With no detail given of the £45 glasses, it´s hard to know whether they were good value or not. I stick to basics in most things, but not when it comes to my eyesight. I´d rather spend a bit more there than have an expensive foreign holiday or a flash car.

Whether the glasses were £45 or £1000 they would have had the same lenses that were prescribed, fancy frames don't make the glasses work any better.

And some don't have the choice but the lenses would be the same anyway all you pay more for is the frames and various treatments that are not really necessary IMO

Re: Eye Test

Got my new glasses today and I don't need any of the "reassurance" of knowing that they are Austin Reed, Bench, Beyu, Boss Orange, Bvlgari, Carrera, Cartier, Cat, Chanel or Christian Lacroix to know that they are just fine for what I need! stevmk2

Re: Eye Test

I get a free eye test but I sometimes wonder if I am being framed?

Re: Eye Test

I wait for specsavers to get in touch with me. I haven't paid anything for an eye test even though they found I didn't need to change my glasses.

Lenses don't all cost the same. I have a "double" prescription - both an astigmatism and long-sighted, plus multi-focal. Plus to make them thinner than bottle -glass costs more too. They are about three times dearer than my OH's reading lenses which are just basically magnifying.
