Strange isn't it. Carnations were always used as button holes at weddings for that reason, because they had such a strong perfume. I love the smell or carnations and pinks.

I remember once we bought a chocolate rose at a garden fair. The blooms smelt just like chocolate. When it flowered the next year, there was no smell at all. Probably sprayed with cocoa or something.
