Do You Ever Make Yourself A Nice Rice Pudding?

I love rice pudding, so when l have lots of milk that l need to use up, l make a rice pudding.
I only put a tiny bit of sugar in as l don’t like it too sweet and l sprinkle grated nutmeg on the top.
I cook it in my halogen oven and before you know it, it’s ready to eat.
I know lots of people love the skin but l am not keen.
Do you make rice pudding, how do you make yours? Do you like the skin?

As a child, I loved my Granny's rice pudding, done in an enamel tin, like this:

I scraped the tin clean before allowing to be soaked .....

I used to when they were small, now though with just the two of us , far easier to open a tin. Not so good but is okay.

I think the "tin" made all the difference - that and the use of what, as kids, we called "Carnation Cream", which was actually (sweet) condensed milk .....

I remember as a child when my dad used to make the most wonderful rice pudding. Really thick and creamy with nutmeg and a big blob of strawberry jam in the middle, which I would always save to last.

Now all I get is those little tubs of Mueller rice for my packup.

Rice pudding is lovely cooked in the slow cooker. I make one whenever I have a surplus of milk.

I add sugar, cinnamon and a drop of evaporated milk. It's absolutely delicious.

I love it too, even cold. I use full cream milk, very little sugar, nutmeg on top and the rind of a lemon as well, as that's how mum used to make it.
