Re: Peru shuts its doors to Venezuelan refugees
Was it ever thus with socialist governments, no concept of financial management even with massive reserves of assets that could be used to generate much needed income. Their currency is now worthless as the government prints even more money causing inflation and devaluation. It's getting to be like the German Mark in the early 1920s where barrels of cash were needed to pay for basic groceries.Re: Peru shuts its doors to Venezuelan refugees
I've been to Venezuela it's like a giant rubbish tip I've never seen so much rubbish just dumped everywhere it's a few years ago now but I remember petrol was cheaper than Coca Cola.... I don't wonder people are queuing to leave there, I couldn't wait to leave.Re: Peru shuts its doors to Venezuelan refugees
I do feel terribly sorry for the Venezuelan people who are literally starving, I believe that Peru and Brazil are doing the correct thing by stopping the mass exodus into their countries. Although in dire straits with nothing but what they carry, they are still economic immigrants, not fleeing persecution or war. Those two countries cannot possibly accommodate all those people fleeing a disintegrating country. Better they stay and put their government out on its ear and start again with people who know how to run a country other than the Marxist way.
