Tall Story 4

At the local pensioners meeting, the treasurer said they had enough in the bank for a summer outing. This met with much approval, so members were asked to vote on whether they preferred a visit to the garden centre plus lunch, or a day trip to the seaside.
Small slips of paper were passed round for everyone to say which they would most enjoy, then the votes were collected and counted.

"If we went to that new garden centre, I might find a nice pressey for me sister's birthday next month," said Esther.

"Ooh no Esther," said her friend, Dolly, "I voted for the seaside, it's years since I rolled me frock up and had a paddle in the sea."

At the close of the meeting at 4pm, the verdict was read out.
The Chairman tapped his gavil on the table for attention, and announced .........

..........the result of the vote is "for a day trip to Skeggy !". They decided on a date and asked the secretary to organise the charabanc. "Roll on sunday" said Esther.

We all got on the bus, Mups was a bit fidgety, giving the glad eye to Flynn in the opposite seat ......

..... But after Flynns lady friend glared at Mups a couple of times, she settled down and behaved herself, turning instead to enjoying the views from the coach window, and doing her crossword as they sped along towards Skeggy.
They hadn't been travelling for long when Myra and Patsy decided they needed a loo break, and asked the driver to stop at the first possible place, which was .........

A large oak tree - 'come on you two' said Patsy 'its big enough to cope with 3 of us, or even 4 if we include yer bustle Twiz' .........
They run over to the huge oak - all went well till Twiz fell over adjusting that bustle ........

...... "Well, don't just stand there laughing," said Twiz from underneath her bustle, "help me up." But as Myra leaned forward to give Twiz a hand, she tripped over a large tree root and landed with a bump on the ground next to Twiz!
Meanwhile, the coach driver was tooting his hooter to hurry them up and when they looked round, everybody on the coach was looking at them ...

Just then Flynn leapt from the bus with such flourish like he did swinging from a chandelier in the old days, heading towards the gals, 'Hey Flynn get yerself back here' he turned to see his present gal Diamond Lil, standing legs apart in her 6 inch heels and hands on hips - he leapt back to her side and the gals managed to make their way back to the bus .....

.....mortified, when they discovered the driver had reversed round the corner and they were in full view of everyone - breeks at their ankles. Flynn gave them a hand up and Diamond Lil looked none too pleased. They made their way onto the bus, amidst some disgruntled passengers moaning and groaning. Can we get on with it now, said the driver. Everyone settled down and started singing cheery songs, belting out "it's a long way to Tipperary" and the likes. Whilst passing round the Werthers originals. Diamond Lil and Flynn sat canoodling in the back seat. Suddenly, the bus came to a halt................
