There was an item on the radio about whistling the other day. Apparently it was a way of 'carrying a tune' with you.

The invention of modern devices with earphones is thought to be one reason whistling is dying out because people now use this method to carry tunes making whistling unnecessary.

Me too Patsy They were interviewing costermongers in markets on the programme where at one time a variety of tunes could be heard being whistled from dawn each day .
I find it quite sad that another part of our heritage is disappearing.

My Dad was a great whistler descants and all, he also played the cornet so perhaps it helped with his embouchure

I knew someone who used to try to whistle,it was out of tune,and was a defence before it went on stage. Oh dear more bullshit.
