Re: Outer space visitors?

Don't know, but Orford Lighthouse is about 5 miles away from Rendlesham Forest, and I can't imagine that being a reason. Considering the forest is also made up of tall trees it's not really possible that it was the lighthouse reflection at low level.. is it ?

Whatever it was, they did see it on the ground !

Re: Outer space visitors?

Just imagine the effect on sky fairy believers if, or when intelligent extraterrestrial beings arrived here.

Creationism would go down the toilet which is the place for it, "god so loved the earth" and all that palaver would be gone in a flash, and so much more.

The devastating effect on society alone would, or more probably IS enough and more to cause governments in the know to keep schtum.

Re: Outer space visitors?

Who saw what on the ground?
Back in the 50s a Scottish forest warden swore that he saw a 'space ship' take off from a clearing and went to investigate and found four round burnt circles. These are it,s 'footprints' and absolute proof that something strange did land there.
Turned out that over the previous week-end boy scouts had camped here and had lit camp fires.
Of course there is life on other planets outside our own Solar System but what do we mean by 'life'. To get here for outer space it would take thousands of years travelling at the speed of light and I don,t think anything, even if capable of travelling at that speed would come here, hover for a few minutes and then go off again without as much as an 'Owdoo.'

Re: Outer space visitors?

Most people are not aware of the testing of military equipment that goes on in secret, I would guess many sightings of ' UFOs can be attributed to this and freak weather conditions.

My late husband was involved in the development and testing of military equipment and went on secret trials all over the world. I wasn't allowed to know anything about it at the time but information has emerged about some of the equipment since and I can imagine stories of UFOs growing up around the tests.

The testing of equipment still goes on near where I live, the farmer allows a certain organisation access to a field and it is closed off to walkers when in use.

A very interesting story. Maybe it should be made into a film with a few bits and pieces added for more thrills. A couple of little green men perhaps?

Re: Outer space visitors?

Quite sure many potential UFO's have been military experiments etc. , Meg but I don't consider myself in any position to say that someone else who is adamant to have witnessed something different, is talking bollocks.

Neither would I wish to . We can make up our own minds without making belittling remarks about another person's experience .

Re: Outer space visitors?

Given the size of the universe, it's strange to think we are alone, but if other forms of life do exist, with such vast distances involved I doubt we'll ever know.
