Jasmine Hartin shunned high society to carouse with working class cops in Belize at a tropical speakeasy.

She was a regular patron at the Crazy House Bar n Kitchen in San Pedro, according to owner Gene Lopez.

Spanning three floors, the homely establishment comprises dining rooms and cozy lounges separated by soundproofed walls so patrons are free to play their own music and make as much noise as they like.

Lopez stocks 20 kinds of rum, Belize's popular Belikin beer as well as a legal marijuana-infused liquor blend known as Bitters. There's a roof deck where customers can laze about in hammocks.

Lopez said Hartin would be accompanied by both men and women, and often by police officers. On one occasion she was joined by her partner who walked inside but stayed only a few minutes.

Supt. Jemmott was another Crazy House patron from time to time but Lopez didn't recall seeing them there at the same time.

'The names I would rather not mention but she does have a lot of friends. It was mostly police officers, some her age, some older. Regular constables. There were no expats,' Lopez added.

In an extraordinary twist, Lopez, who also runs a security firm, was one of the first people to come across Hartin after she 'accidentally' shot dead Jemmott.

At a bail hearing today to determine whether the mother-of-two should be released, Belizean prosecutor Shanice Lovell said Hartin had indicated to police she was drinking and downing shots before Jemmott, 42, let her handle his gun.

'After a while he said let's head back inside and asked me to hand back the magazine. I struggled with it, trying to get the magazine back in, and it discharged,' Hartin told investigators in an extract from her sworn statement read out at the country's Supreme Court.

As soon as her lawyers make the necessary arrangements, the so-called 'Queen of the Alaia' will be free to leave the notorious Belize Central Prison, which once featured on the Netflix documentary 'Inside the World's Toughest Prisons.'

Hartin will have to report daily to a police station, adhere to a curfew, surrender her ID and passport and will require permission from the court to travel.

'There were very long arguments. But in the end the judge felt that there was not an unacceptable risk of flight once the appropriate conditions could be put in place,' Smith, Belize's former Attorney General, said outside court.

Hartin has spent her short stint behind bars there in a females-only unit where she is isolated from other inmates because of a two-week Covid quarantine requirement.

Jasmine Hartin arrived at a Belizean police station today flanked by armed security. She had to walk directly past a memorial to father-of-five Jemmott including photos, candles and bibles, as she entered the building flanked by a private bodyguard.

She spent four minutes inside signing papers and speaking with officers before returning to her SUV, which then roared away from the two-story police HQ, which is in the west of Belize, only seven miles from the Guatemalan border.

Hartin is believed to be staying with friends at a secure location in the Cayo region of Belize, which is also where Jemmott lived with his partner, Romit Wilson.

Cayo is around 170 miles from the island of San Pedro, with the journey requiring a two-hour car journey followed by a ferry or short flight.

Sources say, however, that with one call from her attorney to the court, Hartin can change location and report to a different police station of her choosing.

Jasmine Hartin, 32, the estranged partner of Lord Ashcroft's son, had been out on bail as she awaited trial over the accidental shooting of Henry Jemmott last month.

It comes after she filmed herself attempting to access the home she previously shared with Andrew Ashcroft and their two children in the luxury complex the billionaire's son owns.

Miss Hartin appeared in court in San Pedro to plead not guilty to assault but was remanded in prison.

The manager of the resort, Frank Habet, withdrew her bail funds and said: 'Miss Hartin appeared at Grand Colony resort behaving in a disorderly and abusive manner and creating great disturbance at the hotel in the presence of guests. I now think Miss Hartin is quite capable of not showing up for trial and I therefore wish to immediately withdraw my cash deposit.'

Miss Hartin's legal team described the incident as an 'ambush' and were last night scrambling to find the sum before she could be released.

Previously, Hartin explained how she confided in her close pal Jemmott after she was sexually assaulted at a party days before he died.

Hartin claims she rang her friend Jemmott because he didn't live far from the capital city of Belmopan, where the attack happened.

The mum-of-two claimed Jemmott urged her to get a firearms licence after the frightening attack.

It was days later, on May 28, when he was showing her how to use his pistol when it allegedly went off unexpectedly in her hands and killed him.

Jasmine Hartin will be leaving the Central Prison in Hattieville by the end of today or latest tomorrow morning, Tuesday, according to Attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley.

Bradley told us multiple “volunteers” have offered land papers to cover the $30,000 bail and these are being processed by the Lands Department as of this evening.

The Supreme Court on Friday, despite the entreaties of the Crown and the Police Department, declined to interfere with the bail. The same conditions apply, including being of good behavior while awaiting trial.

Bradley also noted that Hartin is fearful of her life following recent events.

In addition to the original charge of manslaughter by negligence against Henry Jemmott, she is accused of common assault against an employee of Grand Colony Island Villas allegedly when she went to visit her children on Ambergris Caye and had a confrontation with their father Andrew Ashcroft, and possession of a minute amount of cocaine stemming from the night of May 28.
