Re: Epilepsy and flashing images (split thread)

Venus, have you looked at Pats profile pic ? Maybe she is in the medical field ? Just maybe she would know more about it then, say me ? I heard about it but can't say much more but maybe someone who is in the medical field might have more knowledge than me.

Re: Epilepsy and flashing images (split thread)

I certainly have looked at Pat's profile and yes she is in the medical profession but that does not make her a specialist on epilepsy.

You underestimate me butterfly.

I am sick of hearing the moans and groans from people who wish to spoil others attempts at interacting on here. Each of us are entitled to post in a style which suits us. If the medical profession and other authorities announce warnings and state we could be harming others by using animations then I would be the first to stop. I am sure the site owner would also take immediate action. Enjoy the site whether it be images or words and allow others to do the same.

Re: Epilepsy and flashing images (split thread)

I said she must knows more than me No, it certainly doesn't make someone in the medical profession a specialist on epilepsy nor about any other medical issues, but anyone in the medical field sees more different types of epilepsy or any other medical issues then any one of us.

As for style of posting, I am just stating my opinion on what I like and don't like, and for me, seeing images on all posts is annoying, am I not allowed to say this?

Its not just epilepsy these images affect, its also 'Vertigo' of which I am a sufferer, I looked in on a forum yesterday to consider my options, there were flashing and moving animations that put me right off - so will give them a miss ...

Re: Epilepsy and flashing images (split thread)

My eldest son has epilepsy and it is well controlled. Thank goodness there is no longer the stigma that there used to be.

He's never been aware of flashing lights affecting him, but the condition varies greatly.

If you've been diagnosed then I'm sure your consultant will make you aware of what to look out for regarding your specific type.

Venus, my son started with petit mal and then went onto a couple of grand mal seizures, resulting in him being on meds for the rest of his life. He lives with it and never complains.

Exactly, just because it doesn't affect one person having epilepsy, it doesn't mean it won't affect others. There are various degrees and different types.

And thank-you Patsy and Julie, I was starting to get the impression that we had to agree with everyone here lol
