Pole Beans

I'm having a bumper crop of pole beans this year. I only have 6 vines growing up under my kitchen window, but I'm getting tons of them. The variety I have is Northlake stringless.. I just wash them, snap them and put them into ziplock freezer bags.. quart size. I'll have green beans all winter now.

Re: Pole Beans

Yes it has been a great year for the runners , given loads away. Weather obviously suited them. They did slow down during the short dry spell but picked up again . This winter I am going to dig out a deep bean pit and line it with thick newspaper to hold the moisture in (we are on chalk). The variety we planted was Enorma, stringless and longer then would go in the fridge veg drawer

Re: Pole Beans

To me.. runners have a strong smell while cooking.. but taste good. Not familiar with French beans

Re: Pole Beans

Yuk! The only beans I eat are baked beans. Apart from peas/lettuce/nasturtiums don't eat anything coloured green.

just my two cents worth - sucked in by Pole(?) Beans

Re: Pole Beans

Pole beans.... because they grow up poles... they are vines.. hence "Pole" beans. not to be confused with "Bush" beans of the same variety.
