Alcohol

Morning all

I gave alcohol up a few weeks ago as I was doing a detox and now I've decided to give it up for life.

Goodness me it's extraordinary how many friends think I've morphed into an alien!

Is being AF ( alcohol free) SO weird?

What are your thoughts?

Re: Alcohol

Not weird at all , I think its weird people go out drinking alcohol to be sociable
More should be done to limit the amount people drink, its a burden on the health service.

Re: Alcohol

I drink wine which is so calorific, but I enjoy it. I could be doing with a detox. Well done Kim!

Good for you .

I too have more or less given up the demon booze. I want to see life as it really is now and not through drunken eyes. It is also very unfair on all around exposing them to drunken ramblings.

It does take a while to get used to it and no-doubt you will fall off the wagon now and then I expect.

Thing is alcohol is very much a part of the society where I live but I reckon I can kick the habit entirely and if I go down the pub curtail the amount to just a few pints to be social. I did have 6 pints the other day but thinking about it there was absolutely no need and I wasn't being forced.

We live and learn - I hope .

Re: Alcohol

Never really been a drink perhaps two glasses of cider a year so when I gave up I didn't really notice all my life it's been a battle though and amazing how many people don't like to take no as an answer when they offer alcohol. One of my teens is alcohol free he has arguments and is made fun of mercilessly by "friends" but it's his life I keep telling him and his choice.

Re: Alcohol

Thank you all for your replies! As I wasn't a great drinker in the first place it just seemed pointless starting again after the detox. I'm rather surprised, as I said, at how many friends seem to *want* me to go back to having a glass of wine with them.

Things which make you go hmmmm

Not weird at all, hubby and I both gave up alcohol about 4 years ago, don't even partake at Christmas, don't miss it all all.

Re: Alcohol

One friend asked me how I'd enjoy life....I know life can be a bit tough sometimes but gracious, surely a glass of wine isn't THAT good, although I did enjoy a glass of good white burgundy
