Re: Coconut oil

I've never seen that here Bruce but we have something called oilatum which can be used instead of soap, my husband uses it when his legs flare up then he uses coconut oil at night, that seems to help him.

Do you have any good products you wouldn't be without ? Obviously on the cheap side as it's the money saving forum.
Olive oil is just as good if not better and much, much cheaper.

You can get it here on ebay....17 quid plus 47 quid delivery from Oz !

Re: Coconut oil

Is it cheaper ? I get a pot of coconut oil lasts me a year if I'm not sharing with rest of family, about £3

If it is and it works as well then obviously that's great but I haven't found if as good for medical issues as the coconut oil.

I thought I remembered sorbolene when I lived there but that was a long time ago, it is also the basis of all those creams and potions women use.

Had a look on Mr Google and it does appear to be an Australian thing because there are lots of request from the UK and USA for it.

It's good stuff. I also buy Lanolin cream too because that is nearly as cheap from the supermarket (we do have a lot of sheep)

Good grief! I have a pot of organic coconut oil here, and the storage instructions say - " Once opened, use within one month."
It's OK till July 2018 if unopened though.

What does it say about storeage on yours Julie?

Re: Coconut oil

Can I mix the coconut oil with raw shea butter? Its just that the raw shea butter really has a foul smell to it and I dont want to smell like a mouldy rag the coconut oil is rather pleasant smelling a bit like cookies
