Pauline, I love this song and dance, too! Such fun! Chubby Checker performed often on Dick Clark's American Bandstand, in Philadelphia, about 2 hours from my home. A few of my friends' older sisters would travel down to make an appearance on occasion.

We all loved that show here in the states.

I remember years ago, one of my friends coming to our house to show us a new dance. It was the Hitchhiker.
She looked so serious as she did the actions, my sisters and l used to have to stifle our giggles!

I remember seeing the twist done on TV, but never in reality, not having been to a dance in my life, or wished to do so.
