Oriental poppy in bud

The other day I was starting to chop stuff back and noticed a couple of buds on the Oriental Poppy. Bit gobsmacked as it is November. Never seen them in bud at this time of year and suspect they will just stay as 'unopened buds'.

Don't know if you can spot it... the second picture has a smaller bud roughly half way up on the left stem.

Anyone else had this before - did they survive and go on to flower?

Yes Muddy, perhaps it is down to the mild weather although I can't say it's been any milder this year compared to any other year, and no sign of buds those years.

It was one of the areas riddled with rat and mouse holes earlier in the year. A silly thought crossed my mind wondering if the poppies are benefitting from overfeeding on rat and mouse manure
