Re: What book are you reading now?

I've been reading The Book of Malazan Series ....on book 8 now "The Reaper's Gale" It's sometimes (I'll admit even more than that) to always know what's going on , but I get enough glimpses and some really good crafty writing which I do understand...including poetry.....and because it keeps shifting....I never get bored....really heavy stuff as far as magical worlds/warrens, but not like teenagey kind of stuff....I like Erikson....

Also reading a travel trues story called Endurance

And a book called The Riddlemaster....but Malazan I'm most addicted to.

Any Malazan fans out there?

Re: What book are you reading now?

Maybe a bit old hat but lve just finished a great book by Kenneth
Roberts about the american war of independance and the role
of its emergent navy in the struggle from an american point of
view! It has enough romance for me,but may not be enough for
modern tastes?
A really good read, especially as l last read it 70yrs ago, it has
improved with age!
The title is THE LIVELY LADY!!

Chances Are ~ Richard Russo

I just watched Nobody's Fool with Paul Newman in it, and thought to take a chance with Russo's new book.

Re: What book are you reading now?

Just started a rather old book about Alan Bond, his bankrupcy, gaoling and squirrelling away of most of his wealth. It's called Going for Broke by Paul Barry.

Easy to read and fascinating wealth can be used to delay the legal system by abusing the court system (saved him $32 million he "gave" to his family).

Re: What book are you reading now?

Hello Phamph,

You are the only post I saw that listed Malazan Book of the Fallen series.

I made a mistake ...said Reaper's Gale was the 8th book ...it's the 7th.

Is this series cool or what?!

I'm on book 8 Toll of the Hounds …..Reaper's gale was long but good. I won't spoil anything.

What's your favorite book in the series and why? Mine is Deadhouse Gates....I just liked the desert jouney and the Silanda boat and Bridgeburners and Quick Ben and Kalam….Fiddler...Heborok…..good story. …...I liked The Bonehunters as a second place.....Ganoes Paran…

I have yet to see a fantasy series quite like this …..Checking out The Prince of Nothing.....The Darkness that Comes Before....by Scott Bakker.

I've checked out 1st law series, and the Black co. but still it isn't Malazan. Your thoughts?
