Re: Holidays 2011

I have booked & paid for a 9 day bus tour of the Canyons Of The West. This includes Bryce National Park, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, Monument Valley & two days in the Grand Canyon. Green Tortoise Tours has been in business since the 1970 and provides all sleeping accommodations, all food & all touring for 9 days for under $600 per person. I can't even buy the gas and drive myself for that.

I leave July 21 and head for San Francisco where I'll park my car in long term parking, taking a cab or bus to the Green Tortoise Hostel where I've made arrangements to spend the night. The tour begins the following day, loading up at 7 p.m. and driving overnight to our first destination.

Being a photographer I am exhilarated by the idea of photographing some of the very best scenery in the world. I am preparing meticulously for this wonderful adventure. I've even lost 30 pounds in an effort to get into good shape to do the hiking required on this trip. http://www.greentortoise.com/adventu...rand.zion.html

Re: Holidays 2011

I am so envious of all of you going on holiday or planning your next trip, we used to have at least 3 foreign holidays per year, and countless trips in this country, but unfortunately because of circumstances we cannot have any holidays this year, never mind I will keep watching all the old holiday programmes on sky and dreaming.

Re: Holidays 2011

Haven't had a 'holiday' for 11 years. The missus keeps having a winge about going somewhere. But where? We live in a holiday resort, people pay big bucks to come on holiday to where we live.

May book for a cruise in a couple of years for our anniversary

Good for you! I've always wanted to go on a cruise. That sounds like a lot of fun. If I had a choice I'd go on one to Alaska. Keep us informed as your magic date nears.

Re: Holidays 2011

I guess as I get older I want a bit more pampering that in my youth. I've done a lot of traveling in the past 30 years, mostly on my motorcycle. Now I'm ready to kick back & let others do the driving/flying/paddling while I have a nice cup of tea. LOL
