Re: For MANXMAN

Hello all

We returned in the early hours (Sunday 27th February) our sailings both to and from the Island where very comfortable.

Some pictures have been taken and I will download in time. We all had a fantastic time, seeing faces old and new.

Thank you all for your support in my dark times. I am now in a very bright place and having fun.

Monday (tomorrow). I am at 'The Christie' Hospital with my Cancer Crew, they are if my bloods are OK going to give me some new Chemotherapy different to my last mix, that although will not cure me but may help me on me journey. This may have side effects so I may just read threads and not comment.

Thank you all again for just being there.

Love and Peace to you and yours and Smile a Mile.

Re: For MANXMAN

Hello

Just back from the Christie.

Blood taken but no treatment, blood OK and I have put on around around half a stone. No chemotherapy a bit vague if I will receive any treatment going forward, I am booked in for a review in 5 weeks, in which time I will have a CT scan at NMGH and the Cancer Team will discuss my needs. Mention was made of a start of low dosage chemotherapy and increase the strength as my body gets stronger.

Bottom line is I need to put a bit of weight on and a little bit more muscle and they may be able to get me fit.

Re: For MANXMAN

Thanks for keeping us in the picture Adrian, I'm not too sure if that is good or bad news today for you, sounds better than you were expecting? As for the 'putting on weight and building up muscles', if you master that then let me know how you did it? It's not easy if you've not much appetite or energy is it? Jam do-nuts in order maybe?

I am too weak to give treatment to at this time and maybe forever, will be reviewed as time goes forward. At least I feel in control and can prepare.

My intention is to smile a lot, let all know that I love them, lots of hugs and kisses.

Yesterday on top of my normal eating I ate a box of doughnuts and sweets.

Norma has bought today, large custard, 2 apple Charlotte, ice buns, box of jam doughnuts. Evening meal of rough pate, bread, cheese, olives and nibbles. I had Bovril toast for lunch, cereal etc.

It is a Good Day)

For everyones knowledge, the steroids I am on although helping my appetite and increasing my weight gain, Norma says 11lb in 5 weeks but and this is a big but can create muscle loss. So please be aware of this in case you come across incidents where you can use this information.

Sorry Maryl

Have a word with your GP about steroids or something that the GP advisors.

A Doctor who visited me in hospital, a palitive care specialist, sorry if his title is slightly incorrect. Advised me to try grazing rather than eating set meals, just nibble through the day, eat for taste rather that filling with stodge.

I can recommend Dim Sum if you do not have a steamer a cullender over a pan of hot water, letting the steam do the job. Try this link http://www.wingyip.com/page-496.html

Something on toast, poached eggs, tinned tomatoes, beans, spaghetti hoops, mashed hard boiled eggs, Fresh banana, remember bananas should not be mixed as potassium level lowers.

Slice of cake or pie loads of double cream.

Pasta hot or cold. People look at me strange but cooked pasta allowed to go cold that has been drizzled with a good measure of lemon flavored olive oil, to keep the pasta moist and separated. After draining any excess oil. Add to the pasta a can of mixed fruit including juice and add a fruit yogurt, keep cool and eat when you feel like something sweet, do not leave in fridge for more than 48 hours. If you think this is strange I will say, what is a fruit pie with cream.

Something I have noticed, drinking lift (lemon fruit tea, in jars. Banana milk shakes from supermarkets also available in flavors like strawberry.

Ben and Gerry chunky monkey ice cream, a very good full cream British ice cream with double cream on top and some chocolate sprinkles. Have a mix of ice cream and fresh fruit.

Starburst sweets, help keep your mouth moist.

Most of all drink a lot any sort of drink from lucazade to a nice hot vimto cordial.

I hope I have helped at least come up with something that will help you.

Plate of French loaf,Pate, green and black olives, feta cheese, with my name on it.
