Special Relationship with USA?

Before we sign up to a close trade deal with USA, I'd like to dig a bit further into our "Special Relationship" with USA because I think it is more in our rose tinted heads than in reality.


Propaganda
USA our biggest friend and ally. Helped us win the war.

Reality
Didn't enter the war until after Pearl Harbour. 4/5 German troops defeated on eastern front by Russia.
USA was neutral during Falklands war. Sucked us into the Iraq war with lies about "weapons of mass destruction".


Propaganda
The world's good guys. Defenders of democracy. Rambo films showing USA heroes hand to hand fighting the nasty Russian backed Viet Cong. Countless films like Independence day showing USA heroes including their president personally saving the planet.
Countless cowboy films showing Americans bravely shooting the nasty Indians with their evil bows and arrows.

Reality
7,662,000 TONs of bombs dropped in Vietnam/Cambodia killing 1.5 million local people "to stop the spread of communism"
Blindly dropping bombs of "Monsanto agent orange" onto forests causing countless deformities in unborn Vietnamese babies and massive pollution problems.
Korean war. More bombs.
More wars, more bombs, always bombs; these days using drones.
President germophobe conscription sick note Donald Trump.

Propaganda
Great place to live where it is clean, wealthy, everything that is good about capitalism.

Reality
400,000 firearms, 40,000 gun deaths per year
Obesity at 35%
Life expectancy for the poor much lower than Europe
Death Penalty
Privatised health care
Obscene wealth inequality
Racist police and courts
Massive pollution and carbon footprint per person.
Fracking without regulation
Chlorinated chicken, hormone treated saturated fat beef, poisonous pesticides, horrendous factory farming.

Looking at this do we really want to leave the EU single market, sign up with USA, lower our standards, pollute the oceans and start shipping their unregulated crap thousands of miles to us in the UK?

Personally I don't want to be a part of either the EU or the USA.

But we do need to have trade deals with many other countries.

I'm 100% for managing ourselves.

Our 'Special Relationship" is more about defence, intelligence and security. Both our countries are hugely integrated in these areas.

Another reason to get out of the EU - we would have to be annexed from the USA and be integrated with China and the other 27.

We are part of 5 Eyes and still in the EU and have been for decades.

It is our own decision to use Huewai, nothing to do with the EU at all.

5 Eyes is not part of the EU and has never been.

We have the biggest listening post in the World here, at Menwith.

That will not change.

Trump simply cannot afford to move it.

We also have GCHQ, which is ours and the best in the World.

Think laterally.

Trump is worried about Huewai using their software to spy on us.

We are looking at it as an opportunity to spy on them.

Totally naïve view. We are a small country. Where/when/who/how/why do you expect us to do the deals with which haven't already been covered by the EU.

It is not our decision to use Huwawei The EU have decided to rollout 5G in Europe using Huwawei - and Theresa May being the EU "fangirl" wants to maintain links with them.

The USA use Verizon and have thrown any chance of Huwawei implementing 5g in the USA out of the window.

This means that we will not be able to integrate our Huwawei 5G components into the USA Verizon network because Huwawei provide information on demand back to the Chinese state. This means that China can effectively get access to everything if they want to because May is allowing them to have periphery network infrastructure (which we all know is just a gateway to everything else).

The Chinese state is on of the main reasons the USA threw Huwawei out of the melting pot for 5G in the USA - do you really think we could still integrate with the USA knowing ours (and their) data could be transferred back to the Chinese state ?

The other part of this is about the 5 eyes principal. The EU has their satellite project (Galileo) which will force the UK out of 5 eyes and to onboard it and integrate it into Galileo.

For a start, 5 eyes is built and operated with the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand because of our land bases and their locations to enable satellites to communicate as they circle in orbit. The EU has hardly any (other than mainland Europe) so it desperately needs the UK because our our territories around the world (and our technology because we actually build 1 in 4 satellites here in the UK).

The EU security initiative (including the EU army) will not allow any country outside the EU block to have access to it's data or information, or provide weapons or arms to it (Germany just bought Typhoons instead of the superior F35s recently remember) as any country outside the EU is a potential threat.

(also go and find out why there are no Humvies in the UK army and why we had to buy the more expensive, less effective and out of date Italian Panther instead).

So .... the UK going with Huwawei (in any shape or form) would annex us completely from 5 eyes (5G us used for satellite communication, data communucation, video and audio) and we would be trapped in the EU forever.

If we have Huwawei kiss goodbye to the centuries of intelligence sharing and "special relationship" we have had with the USA - our closest ally and instead hand it over to China and then Russia.
