Re: Lights Out !

Travelling down the lanes as I do to get to work in a morning I some times hit the curb going round some of the tight bends anyway. No hope for me in the dark then.

Im not dangerous really, it is a very tight bend and if a car is coming the other way and as they sometimes do they cut the corner off. You cannot see anything coming either because of the hedges.

Re: Lights Out !

The powers that be are going down the same path here in the market town in Shropshire where I live and I dread it. I have already experienced this madness when I was a teenager and the local council turned every street light off except for the town centre at the stroke of midnight. Everyone used to be rushing home before 12 so they wouldn't be forced to walk in pitch black, and I mean pitch black! so dark one couldn't see in front of their nose, it was really nerve -racking and if one were on their own, really scary. Luckily crime was practically non-existent back then but not so nowadays, I dread to think what may happen because in reality, councils will be aiding criminals by cutting the one thing that stops a majority of crime occuring, and that is their risk of being recognised simply by being seen !! How scary must this prospect be for those living in ever more built up areas where crime is high with the lights on !! .>

Maybe the powers that be are hoping everyone will put up security lights to provide some light that homeowners end up paying for instead of them

Re: Lights Out !

Have you never been courting out in the country late at night, you don't bump into anything at all, because it is very rarely pitch black.

Re: Lights Out !

I walk Chloe late at night and love the dark I would hate to live somewhere with lots of street lights.

Until my eyes started to react slowly to light change I used to love driving in the dark too.

We get very little criminal activity here (though the church bell was stolen) far less than in town where there are street lights.
