Wasn't it once called Calder Hall? In the days when it leaked dramatic amounts of nuclear radiation into the surrounding country side. Windscale is another notorious site which I think is associated with it, can't remember exactly why but it dates back to the 1950s.
I vaguely remember reading many years ago that it changed its name to try to escape its dubious polluting past.
