Gun boat diplomacy

Seems we're sending gun boats to fight off the Russians.. I wonder if its those type 45 destroyers they're sending - you know the ones that keep breaking down???

Re: Gun boat diplomacy

Why on earth are we getting aggressive with Russia, when we come out of the EU they might be the only friends we've got.

I would imagine because of their warlike behavior in the Ukraine and in Syria. In Syria particularly they are killing civilians women and children with indiscriminate bombing in Aleppo
Watching an interview with the Russian Ambassador to the UK on Channel 4 News was a masterclass in lies and obfuscation. The only thing the Russians are after is a Warm Water Port, if they have to bomb Syria into oblivion to protect their puppet Assad and to get it then so be it.

If a Western country had perpetrated acts such as these there would have been a world outcry. Amnesty Intentional, The UN and other useless bodies have nothing to say whatsoever though. America and the rest of the world stand by and let it happen

Where've you been for the past fifty years??? - America's incursion into Laos and Cambodia contrary to international law!!! - America's illegal dentention without trial and torture of hundreds of islamic citizens for years on end - also illegal under international law, the 'rendition flights around the world of these same islamic citizens also illegal under international law. The UK and US invasion of Iraq without a specific mandate from the UN - also contrary to international law.

Like it or not, Assad is the law in Syria and the Rebels are just that, REBELS.

The Russians are trying to restore the law and order back to Syria, and they are making more progress than the so called allies ever have, because the Allies don't know who to support. The British and Americans (among others) are only interested in quashing ISIS whatever the cost. At least the Russians are only bombing in Syria, we are bombing everywhere. How can you possibly accuse the Russians of warmongering. Just read UJ's excellent post. If you are going to take the high moral ground, we shouldn't be there at all, how will they ever sort out their problems while most of the countries in the western world want to interfere, each with their own ideas on how Middle Eastern countries should be run. It's a good job they didn't interfere with our own Wars of the Roses, or the American war of Independence, otherwise things might have turned out very different. People die in a war situation, civilians die in a war situation, it is unfortunate, but that's what war is. The only way to prevent killing in a war is to get the opposing forces to sit round a table and talk it through.....Good luck with that.

If you are going to quote my post at least deal with all of it rather than cherry picking the bits you think you can handle. Much of what you say is questionable anyway.

I wasn't defending America but condemning the Russians. Two wrongs don't make a right. You cannot use the behavior of America to excuse the sins of the Russians.

Hi

I think we would all be much better off sending these warships to secure the EU Border with Turkey.
