Re: Experience or education ?

Many companies employ people who know the books very well, but have no idea how doing the job actually works, they are then employed at management level and make decisions for other people to apply their policies that don’t work,

It depends on the nature of the job.

Indeed. Did a plumbing course (as one does!), and there's a fair amount of bookwork involved.

I never said that JBR....of course a surgeon has text book knowledge ,but also experience.

Do you honestly think I would have let a newly qualified surgeon, perform my open heart surgery, you must be joking...I chose my surgeon....he had 40 yrs experience..top surgeon at the Brompton in London.

Same as when I had a camera put inside of me to look at my heart...my consultant did that....again, with yrs of experience.

Agree. Those that I know do, and tend to visit and work on site as required.
