Covid resucitation for the Elderley.

Hi

Plastered on the walls, pathways for resuscitation.

Elderly, with Covid, two sets of paddles and then 3 minutes of chest compression by a person in full Covid PPE.

That is your lot.

That is all you get.

Specialist resuscitation nurses are there to supervise it.

Re: Covid resucitation for the Elderley.

This is the hard face of this pandemic.

You have to ask yourself the question of what quality of life would the patient have if they were resuscitated. Take Derek Garraway, for instance - would the man be better off had they let him die or living as he is now as a virtual cabbage.

How many people are suffering from Long Covid?

When my wife died, there was a DNR in place as her quality of life was zero and I had to accept she had reached the end of her life, and it's much the same with Covid deaths, irrespective of the age of the patient.

It's blunt; it's tragic; it's devastating, but the NHS can only do so much in the face of this tragedy.
