I Must Admit, l Do Have Trouble With My ‘Who’ And ‘Whom’.

A while back my brother in law picked me up on my use of ‘who’ and stated, l should have used, ‘whom’!

Now l avoid, any script or speech where I dither about which it should be.

Are there any words you dither on? Or, are you just perfection when it comes to the use of the English language?

We need to remember that old phrase "For Whom The Bell Tolls".

So, you only use Whom if you want to hear a bell ring!

Who is the subject of the sentence
Whom is the object

If you can replace the word with he or she then use "who"
If you can replace the word with him or her use "whom"

There are a lot of errors in this forum - and others. I usually pass them by unless they are they are unclear or amusing.

I love language and like to speak properly - but that's a personal preference. I would never draw anyone's attention to a grammatical mistake, because that's just being an.....idiot. So long as I understand what is being said, I'm fine.

I have to stop.myself from correcting people when they say less instead of fewer.
I have to use mental effort to keep my mouth clamped

You and me both - and the substitution `of ` instead of have, loose, instead of lose.

I could of gone all day about this but would loose the will to live.
