Interesting that a major waypoint for mostly bogus asylum seekers and illegals.... is the island of Lampedusa. Yet another node on slime trails. It's increasingly probable that the MK2 variant DID enter Kent like fleas on rats that brought the black death.

The article confirms nothing about your theory.
Viral mutations continue as viruses spread, if the variant (eventually) detected in Italy fit into the mutations leading to MK2 then that would add to the probability of it having been sneaked into Kent by the burglars.
There's a great deal of work needed in the epidemiology of the spread of covid MK2 and beyond that needs to done.
Maybe it has been or is being done and governments, ours especially, are terrified if made known would result in a witch hunt when people became aware of just how many burglars have entered our country and the harm that they have brought with them in addition to what we see every day.
