It's referred to as 'racism by association'. When an issue occurs time and time again to the point it becomes common place in society, established 'trigger' words no longer get used. Other lesser 'trigger' words take their place, words that have completely different meaning and definitions but when used in the right context produce the same desired effect as if a well known 'trigger' word had been used.

Therefore, when you consider the way the debate is ebbing and flowing, basically the discussion of illegal immigrants allegedly bringing the virus into the UK from France, using the word 'Burglars' is making reference to a certain demographic of people without actually using the established 'trigger' words that is commonly associated with the group of people, ergo 'racism by association'.

A very very good example of this is the criminal case against a man called Harry Miller (link here on the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...shire-51501202)

He was charged with a hate crime. Basically he was accused of making 30 transphobic tweets on twitter. One of the tweets that was used against him was a tweet he retweeted which made reference to Dame Jenni Murray. The actual content of the tweet was not transphobic and had nothing to do with trans BUT because in the past Jenni Murrary had made comments about trans gender women not being biological women, her comments at the time being considered transphobic, therefore because the tweet mentioned her name, Mr Miller was 'transphobic by association' because he had retweeted a tweet that had her name in it. Therefore, the police considered that retweeted tweet to be transphobic.

So, Mr Miller was charged with a hate crime based on 'transphobia by association', just as Todger is being accused of being a racist due to 'racism by association'.

Soooo If someone unlawfully breaks into your home, helps themselves to goods and services that are yours and that they have no lawful or moral right to access what should they be called other than burglar?

Re: Covid new strain.

I heard on the radio in the early hours that someone in Montana, USA has reportedly come down with the "English Cov-19 virus" but has never been to England nor has he/she been in contact with anyone who has. Explain that.

I wonder if that is the person's way of saying they have caught the convid-19 variant that was found in England. It is basically much the same as people referring to the original virus as the 'China Virus', even though many people saying it had never been to China or been in contact with anyone who had.

Re: Covid new strain.

Since a fair few people will be asymptomatic (good luck trying to nail down some figures), obviously it may take several people in series to have carried the virus before anyone actually becomes ill, or even feels the need to be tested.

I suspect that if they are 'transgender' they would be immune to any charges.

If they are charged under a male name, they'd object.
If they are charged under a female name, they'd object.

It’s the context Pauline. AT has form in this regard, earlier on this thread he said the new variant “entered Kent like fleas on the back of rats that brought the Black Death.” The inference is obvious.

Not at all. The Black Death WAS brought into England by rats that in spite of best efforts managed to sneak in and bring the awful plague with them.
